More About Mayrose...

awesome comfort food and primo people watching

Mayrose
High ceilings, 20-foot windows wrapped around a bustling corner in flatiron, and a reputation for reliable comfort food and you've got a spot that can't miss for weekend grubbing and people watching. mayrose is your corner diner, but different. The space is great: bustling and busy but not obnoxious. The waitstaff is pleasant and, although sometimes slow, accurate and helpful. The griddle cakes are how all pancakes should be: light, fluffy, full of flavor and not at all those heavy discs of thick cooked paste served at most diners. eggs are cooked delectably as well.

mayrose uses GOOD ingredients. The wheat toast is toothsome, with grains. The orange juice is fresh squeezed. You can even get Ronnybrook Chocolate Milk by the pint bottle. Mac n cheese is served as a side in individually cooked ramekins. It's these small touches that take mayrose just a bit higher than your average comfort food joint.

The black/white tile floor and old school diner tables are the perfect match for this fun, friendly unpretentious brunch/breakfast/anytime standby.
